Don’t take your guns to town

Thursday, September 28th, 2006

Watched Walk the line yesterday. Based on biography of Johny Cash. Movie – ok, similar to the one about Ray Charles. Now sitting at work and listening to Johny Cash’s music.

Don’t Take Your Guns To Town Lyrics
by Johnny Cash

A young cowboy named Billy Joe grew restless on the farm
A boy filled with wonderlust who really meant no harm
He changed his clothes and shined his boots
And combed his dark hair down
And his mother cried as he walked out

[Chorus]
Don’t take your guns to town son
Leave your guns at home Bill
Don’t take your guns to town

He laughed and kissed his mom
And said your Billy Joe’s a man
I can shoot as quick and straight as anybody can
But I wouldn’t shoot without a cause
I’d gun nobody down
But she cried again as he rode away
[Chorus]
Don’t take your guns to town son
Leave your guns at home Bill
Don’t take your guns to town

He sang a song as on he rode
His guns hung at his hips
He rode into a cattle town
A smile upon his lips
He stopped and walked into a bar
And laid his money down
But his mother’s words echoed again

[Chorus]
Don’t take your guns to town son
Leave your guns at home Bill
Don’t take your guns to town

He drank his first strong liquor then to calm his shaking hand
And tried to tell himself he had become a man
A dusty cowpoke at his side began to laugh him down
And he heard again his mothers words

[Chorus]
Don’t take your guns to town son
Leave your guns at home Bill
Don’t take your guns to town

Filled with rage then
Billy Joe reached for his gun to draw
But the stranger drew his gun and fired
Before he even saw
As Billy Joe fell to the floor
The crowd all gathered ’round
And wondered at his final words

[Chorus]
Don’t take your guns to town son
Leave your guns at home Bill
Don’t take your guns to town

wedding

Went to a wedding during the weekend with my flatmate. Nice experience. Much food , much alcohol. :-)

I am a tram-traveler-junkie. Faces, billboards, cars outside and music in my head and me smiling. Fascinating.

good question

Monday, September 18th, 2006

Billboard says “What makes you stay in this country?”. This is a part of an advertising campaign for a newspaper. Facts are: official data say that 500.000 people left Poland after integration with the European Union to work in the Western Europe. Unofficial data claim that the number is 2.000.000. Many of those are young people with their Masters Degrees who often prefer to do shitty jobs in London or Dublin than stay in Poland (and be unemployed or underpaid). The Polish reality.

Plac Zbawiciela. Byłem. Miażdży. Realizm. Zwykła historia, prawdziwie przedstawiona. Może dzieje się właśnie w mieszkaniu obok. Może sąsiadka, którą spotykasz w windzie też coś takiego przeżywa. Porażający realizm. Nasza rzeczywistość. Trochem rozbity.

guy with a plan

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

Very positive day -yesterday. Tram was late and got stuck in a traffic, so I went a few stops walking in the sunshine. Late for work – nobody cares. And at work everything worked well. No stress, just progress. :-) And a big plan in my mind. Life in slow motion.

wknd in Warsaw

Sunday, September 10th, 2006

Spent the weekend in Warsaw – recovering from sickness and visiting Warsaw with Domka (first time to see each other after her 1 year in India).
We visited the Warsaw Rising Museum – really nice exhibition about this important period in the Polish history which actually determined the further 50 years of this country.

Also visited the Old Town.

Now I am planned to be in Warsaw till Sunday the 17th. Later… don’t know yet.

And one more pic from AIESEC IC in Warsaw (25.08.2006 – Global Village:

where we end

Tuesday, September 5th, 2006

Today I am celebrating an anniversary. I don’t remember my family member’s birth-dates, I don’t remember national Independence Day date, but somehow I exactly remember this one: on the 5th of September 2005 I started “the adult life” and joined Accenture. :D First day at work, big expectations, new people and situations. 10 months there and enough. What’s left – some experience and a few friends. Good start – that’s it.

Two years ago on the 5th of September I was having a tea by a the Tigris River in Turkey, about 30 km from the border with Iraq. This was a part of Operation What’s Underneath that I made with Rafa. I was thinking then if I could be anymore crazy. And the next I got much more crazy getting even closer to the forbidden territory. (BTW: check this).

Yeah, my life changed quite a lot since then. Have I?

Yesterday I was on a plane (Frankfurt-Warsaw) with this absolutely gorgeous woman. At that time I didn’t know who she was. Later I figured out that she was flying for the Miss of the World contest. Damn! Should have talked…
